The Abandoned Mine, located just NW of Arwic at 34.9N 54.6E, is also known as Subway, Sub, or Hub, depending on which server you play on.
It is one of several Portal Nexus Dungeons.
To get to the bottom, cross the room to the passage across from the exit portal, and wind your way down the spiral counter clockwise.
The Surface portal exit is just NW of Arwic.
Back in the days, the (now removed) locked door on the passage down was one of the reasons a character would want to train lockpick.
Abandoned Mines Portal Sending Gems are one of the possible rewards of the Gift Box Quest.
During the Shifting Gears event, all portals other than the one to the Underground City were destroyed.
