Dearest Hopto:
It is Morningthaw now, and I've been away from you for so long. I cannot wait to get back home. This war with the Shadows and the monsters is wearing on me. My friends Roma and WarriorWraith are my constant companions while we are out here in the wilderness of Dereth. I wish you were here with me or I there with you. Hopefully you have not had to take a stand in the war yourself. I'm counting on you being at the farm when all of this is over.
Last week we ventured into Arwic and found it had been almost totally destroyed. Our commander has repositioned our home base to Zaikhal, where we are now. Portals are getting harder to find and many are starting to become mobile. During our last battle, we ran across a new foe that the Shadows have unleashed upon us. We've given them the name "Niffis."They are bad creatures. They hit you while spinning around with their legs. It is almost like getting beat up by a Drudge Skulker with a mace.
I don't know when I'll be near home. Keep the faith, my love. I long to see you soon.
