=== Description === Following an apparent conflict within the ranks of the Virindi, a new warrior caste of Virindi was forced through portal space and into Dereth. This transfer, however, was not without side-effects. Whatever the Virindi did to bring a creature of such immense power into our realm appears to have left small rifts where volatile energy seeps out into the world, mutating creatures and making them more deadly than before. The largest concentration of these rifts is on the island of Vissidal. In response to this new and novel threat, the Arcanum, in conjunction with the Societies, have deployed forces and allocated resources to rally the adventurers to research and, if possible, eliminate the new threat posed by these creatures. A small, vaguely secure foothold was established and named Leviathan Hold. It stands as bleeding edge of research into this new magical phenomenon, and command center for the martial forces assembled to hold the line against the Virindi's latest experiments.
