Though it is unclear which faction currently resided on [[Marae Lassel]], it was before the [[New Directive]] was founded that Virindi established strongholds on the plateau and started experimenting with the creatures there.<ref>2001/11 [[Dark Majesty]] - [[Virindi on the Plateau]]</ref> At some point prior to 0 PY,<ref name=AC:DMBestiaryTumeroks>2001/11 [[Dark Majesty]] - [[AC:DM_CD_Lore/Bestiary/Derethian_Bestiary#Tumeroks|Bestiary: Tumeroks]]</ref><ref name=HistoryofFortWitshire>1999/11 [[Release]] - [[History of Fort Witshire]]</ref> the Virindi discovered the Tumeroks trapped on Marae Lassel.<ref name=AC:DMBestiaryTumeroks/> The young Tumerok rebel Aranpuh was the first to be altered by the Virindi (possibly by [[Aerbax]] itself<ref name=DestructionsAndBeginnings> 2003/01 [[The Slumbering Giant]] - [[Destructions and Beginnings]]</ref>) to look more human.
