{{AC2 Article | Link = http://ac2.turbinegames.com/index.php?page_id=143 | Title = Sclavus | Text = Plural: Sclavi
Group: Tangle
Offspring: Wriggle
Location: Omishan
Natural Allies: Crone
Natural Enemies: Mimbu, Tumeroks

Sclavi were created many thousand of years ago by a dark tribe of Empyrean. Intending to make a race of servants and guards, they created the Sclavi from poisonous water snakes of the swamp in which they dwelled. What became of this tribe is revealed by the shard in the Drudge Citadel Vault; yet when the tribe members scattered, they left their creations unattended.

Only, the Sclavi survived…

Originally endowed with hands and legs, the capricious magic of the Devastation ripped the species in twain, and fully half the species regressed to its earlier, serpentine form. This half continued as Sclavi, and now wage perpetual, resentful war against the other, more civilized half: the Mimbu.

In many ways, the Sclavi are a tragic race. They remain subtly "incomplete." While they possess basic emotions and reasoning, they tend to slip back into primitivism. Sclavi still inhabit the long-abandoned places where the tribes once lived and worshipped, and will perform the old rote tasks, carefully passed down from generation to generation. It is not uncommon for travelers in the jungles and swamps to come upon a congregation of Sclavi silently holding court, an altar laid out for ritual, awaiting a priestess who never comes…

Strategy
Several new quests and encounters opened against the Sclavi with the January Event: "Cacophony." To help you face these creatures, you might keep in the mind the following tips: * Sclavi are exothermic creatures, so look for them around fires. They may also be found in the vicinity of old temples and deep within the secluded jungles of Omishan. * When defeating Sclavi, loot their bodies for both treasure and trophy items. Sclavi tails and venom have all been recovered, and are potentially useful in certain crafting recipes. * Outmatched by the power of the Sclavi, the Mimbu developed a special unguent to give them special powers to hunt their serpentine cousins. Mimbu chiefs, the Kachem Mimbu, carry this unguent with them; defeat a Kachem and there is a good chance you'll find the unguent on his corpse. When used, this starts you off on the Sanguine Fang Quest. If completed, you will receive a special enchantment that makes you more fearful to Sclavi; for three hours, they will not attack you unless you attack them first. If you fail, however, the opposite holds true—and Sclavi will be more inclined to attack. }}
