{{Turbine Games Q&A | Link = <nowiki>http://www.turbinegames.com/qa/view_questions.html?id=2823</nowiki> | Title = Fatal lag when loading new towns and areas. | Text = {{Turbine Games Q&A Question | Asked = 2000.11.22 | Player = Saboom | Title = Fatal lag when loading new towns and areas. | Category = Graphics | Question = I have a 1ghz machine and a 64meg geforce 2 video card and a 200k dsl connection. Whenever I enter an area where a town becomes visible my character will sit in place until the area is loaded. This has caused alot of problems. Once after running 50 clicks to Ayan I died within site of the lifestone when I froze and a great skeleton killed me while the town was loading. Also when I have to run to the wai jou shop as soon as you approach the lifestone you will experience a freeze. Is this being caused by video lag or does this have to do with my connection? I think my system should have what it take to handle whatever AC throws at me graphics wise and my connection is faster than average so I don't undestand what is going on. Any suggestions? ps. I have tried lowering the graphics to the lowest levels with the same results. | Answered = 2000.11.22 | Dev = Jason Booth | Answer = Try defraging your hard drive, it's most likely disk access slowing you down, as thats what it's loading from. Additionally, if you've had AC installed for over 10 months or so, you might want to delete the cell.dat file in the AC directory, as it can become somewhat fragmented as well. Ac will download all that data again when you enter the area for the first time, but subsequent loads could be considerably faster. }} }}
