{{Forumheader|General}} <!-- Please put your content under this line. Be sure to sign your edits with four tildes: ~~~~ --> {{Post | Indent = : | Text = Recently on the AC forums there was [http://forums.ac.turbine.com/showthread.php?t=48205 a thread on the wiki] where there was a pretty good discussion about the wiki vs. older fan sites. There were a lot of good ideas there, which we should probably discuss on another thread, but there is one idea I had that I thought deserved its own topic since it would potentially touch a majority of our articles. I think a nice addition would be to include links to other fan sites' pages on our articles. So on our patch pages and quest guides, we would have links to the appropriate related page on maggies/CoD/ACvault/etc. We could also include these kind of links on our pages about npcs, monsters, items, etc. if we wanted to. Sites we could link to: * http://www.thejackcat.com/ac/ - has info on just about everything from release to 2006 or so. * http://acvault.ign.com/ - has a lot of patch pages / quest guides / stats * http://www.warcry.com/codex/ac/ - has (or had) a lot of info, but most of their patch pages seem to be missing, and after a site restructure it can be difficult to locate their articles. Still, it is a valuable source of info if you can actually find the article you are looking for. * http://www.paladinsofasheron.com/ - has lots of quest guides * *http://www.aclore.com/ - has lots of quest guides at http://www.aclore.com/hol/pilgrimfiles/index.htm * http://www.renegadeguild.net/History/ - has archives of patch notes * http://acpost.net/ac_community/lore/ while the main site seems to be gone they have a fair number of early texts here * Any others you can think of... I was thinking about it, and I think the best way to go about this would be to either create a {{tl|Related External Links}} wiki template that we would edit in to all pages, or modify existing templates, like the {{tl|Patch Announcements Links}}, {{tl|Quest Summary}}, and {{tl|Intro}} templates. Either way, we'll have to go through and edit a ton of articles. While this would be a lot of work, I think it would be a useful addition, as people wouldn't need to learn the different ways to navigate all the various fan sites to get the article they want. Thoughts? --[[User:An Adventurer|An Adventurer]] 10:39, 12 November 2010 (EST) }} {{Post | Indent = :: | Text = I love this idea, we can use it to link to both external content and internal content that is more editorial in nature (from an individual player's perspective). Because it will touch so many pages, it would be best if we encapsulate this in its own template. I'd also like to include a way of linking to webarchive versions of the pages when available to maximize its long term utility. And once we've come to a consensus on what it should look like, we can use it on a couple pages for a week or two then revisit it to make sure there's nothing more we'd like to add before finalizing it and adding it to all pages. --{{User:Tlosk/Sig}} 23:31, 13 November 2010 (EST) }}
