Larchess Trees are a type of tree found on Auberean. There are few known larchess trees. One is at [[Shimena Keep]], which was planted there in RE 213.<ref name=AerlintheRecord>2000/07 [[To Raise a Banner of Flame]] - [[Aerlinthe Record]]</ref> Three more are found on the northeastern corner of the [[Marescent Plateau]], and are known as the [[Tall Tree]]s. According to [[Lilitha]], these are Larchess Trees.<ref>2001/11 [[Dark Majesty]] - [[Exquisite Elari Wood Bow]]</ref> According to [[Tamara du Cinghalle]] and [[Aun Kimintari]] these are [[Deru Tree]]s.<ref>2008/09 [[Risks and Rewards]] - [[Eye of T'thuun Quest]]</ref><ref>2008/10 [[Seeds of Corruption]] - [[Guardian of the Deru Trees of Marae Lassel]]</ref> === Larchess vs. Deru === Larchess Trees and Deru Trees may be the same. According to the Aerlinthe Record, there is an area of Auberean called [[Larchess]]. It is possible that Larchess trees are a particular type of Deru tree from the area of Larchess. It is also possible that Larchess and Deru are words from two different languages, and refer to the same thing. The possibility also exists that Larchess and Deru trees are not meant to be the same, and the labeling of the Larchess trees on Marae Lassel as Deru was a mistake on the part of the developer(s) who designed the more recent quests. <br><br>The two types of trees do look different. Larchess trees appear as tall pine trees with a green aura. Deru trees appear more like the [[Elari Wood Tree]]s of Marae Lassel. This could be used as evidence that the two types are different species of trees, but it could also be explained that when the trees were first developed there was not time for the artists to create the proper models and textures. == References == <references/> [[Category:Lore Database Entry]]
