The Strathelar Royal Guard is named after Queen Elysa Strathelar who formed the faction to help protect her people in times of strife. 

== Elements of Revenge ==
During the [[Elements of Revenge]] story arc, Elysa ordered her guards to build outposts near three [[Nexus towns]] after the Arcanum has reported portal space disturbances in those locations.<ref>2001/12 [[The First Strike]] - [[Announcements - 2001/12 - The First Strike#Teaser 2]]</ref>. Soon after these towers were built, the [[Starter Outposts]] in six towns - totalling at 12 outposts - were destroyed by [[Martine]].

The [[Training Halls]] were retired after the attacks, and Elysa formed the [[Training Academy]] where her Royal Guard could both train new arrivals to Dereth as well as establish a stronger defense at the remaining outposts.

Later, [[Martine]] created his own Simulacra in the image of the Strathelar Royal Guard.<ref name=ElysasFavorQuest>2002/01 [[Flesh and Blood]] - [[Elysa's Favor Quest]]</ref> First, they were used in an attempt to kill Prince [[Borelean Strathelar|Borelean]]<ref name=ElysasFavorQuest/> and later they were used to raid an Arcanum research facility.<ref>2002/05 [[Hidden Vein]] - [[Isparian Weapons Quest]]</ref>
