{{Turbine Games Q&A | Link = <nowiki>http://www.turbinegames.com/qa/view_questions.html?id=1763</nowiki> | Title = Why are some items no-drop, no-give, but drop on death? | Text = {{Turbine Games Q&A Question | Asked = 2000.11.08 | Player = Vincent Price | Title = Why are some items no-drop, no-give, but drop on death? | Category = Items | Question = Some items are no-drop, no-give, but drop on death. Two examples are the Shendolain Crystal Shield and Frore Robe.

With the vestibule and Frore quests, players go to excruciating lengths to complete the quest. If we lag out and the item drops to our corpse after we die, all someone has to do is hang out long enough and it's thiers, the easy way. In theory, someone who does not even meet the minimum qualifications has a small chance of receiving a very hard to obtain quest item without even doing the quest!

Why was the no-drop, no-give, but drop on death approach taken with some items?

Thanks! | Answered = 2000.11.10 | Dev = Stormwaltz | Answer = I think you muddled the wording here a little (no-drop means "never lost on death"). I know what you asking; "Why are there no-give items that can be lost on death?"

These itemscan be lost in the normal death loss calculation, but can't easily be passed around to those who haven't earned them.

It's an imperfect solution used mainly for harmless prestige items like the Frore robe. It would be improved somewhat if we had a flag that would make an item only drop on combat death, rather than @lifestone. }} }}
