So, if anyone's up to discuss housing settlement templates, I started working on one based off of our newer designs.  I am using the Far Claw Villas page as the example.  I also have a mock up in User:Atarax/Sandbox2.  Any thoughts, ideas, or other suggestions? --Atarax 11:02, 20 February 2009 (CST)
:Looks really nice. Only issue I have with it is having 800x800 images for every house - that will add up to a lot of images and a lot of space. I think it might be better to either have smaller images (the 200x200 in the gallery is fine), or do a single aerial shot - or two shots for the double settlements. If we go with the aerial shot, it could be placed with maps instead, and there would be no need for the extra image section. Edit: One other thought. The Map Point Template can display up to 4 points. Perhaps we could include nearest town and/or settlement portal town? --An Adventurer 13:43, 20 February 2009 (CST)

The only reason I thought to show them individually, was to show the house, the coords, and then possibly the item that's used for that house.  So theoretically, you could do /hslist in game and find the coords, go to the settlement page, and then see exactly what it looks like and what item you need to buy it.  This might be helpful for settlements where there is more than 1 type of house item required (like Far Claw).

2009 Template Edit

So, if anyone's up to discuss housing settlement templates, I started working on one based off of our newer designs. I am using the Far Claw Villas page as the example. I also have a mock up in User:Atarax/Sandbox2. Any thoughts, ideas, or other suggestions? --Atarax 11:02, 20 February 2009 (CST)

Looks really nice.

I agree, the 800x800 individual house photos are going to be too large, especially for the large settlements that have a bunch of houses. I'm good either way with individual shots or an aerial shot.

We could also redirect all the coords of the houses in that particular settlement to the settlement page. So if someone was to search for the coordinates that /hslist displays, it would redirect to the settlement page.

Seems like a lot of work lol! --Atarax 14:43, 20 February 2009 (CST)

The template is ready for review, when you decide how you want to handle the naming of non-portal linked locations add a bullet point describing it on the template page. --Tlosk 10:11, 22 February 2009 (CST)

I think we're good to go on this one. The only suggestion I have is to rename the Housing Item 1# to Housing Item 1 Qty. I was a little confused as to what the 1# meant at first. Either way its fine. --Atarax 15:07, 22 February 2009 (CST)

Good idea, I struggled with what to name that. --Tlosk 17:05, 22 February 2009 (CST)

Stand-alone houses Edit

One other thing to discuss, the formatting for stand alone houses/mansions that aren't part of a settlement portal. I think we should name them like point of interests, like 28.5N, 53.1E - Cottage, or 28.8S, 3.9E - Mansion. Any other opinions on this? --Atarax 14:48, 20 February 2009 (CST)

Naming them like POIs is a good idea. For unnamed settlements with more than 1 house, we should name them <coords> - Two Cottages. For mixed unnamed settlements, if any exist, we should name them <coords)> - Two Cottages, One Villa (Lower class housing first). --An Adventurer 15:10, 20 February 2009 (CST)
