There will be an important wedding announced. The preperations started in the Lay of the Land patch.

Tailoring will allow players to customize the look of their loot-generated armor.

The primary ability of tailoring will be to transfer the looks (and looks alone) from one item to another, for like items, e.g sleeves to sleeves, helmets to helmets, etc. For example, you will be able to take the looks of a Lorica Breastplate and apply those looks to the stats of a Studded Leather Breastplate. The resulting item will retain all of the stats of the Studded Leather Breastplate, but will now visually look like the Lorica Breastplate.

Tailoring will also include a secondary ability - reducing multi-slot armor to single slot coverage, while still retaining the multi-slot looks. For example, you will be able to reduce a pair of Amuli leggings to only cover and protect the abdomen, but visually it will still look like it covers full legs.

In regards to certain races being more suspectible to certain attacks than others (IE, lightning being good against Lugians):

| Text = The members of other races that step forward to join the Isparian kingdoms will be the most balanced members of their race in both temperament and metabolism. The races will have the same resists and armor as humans.

The only statistical advantage will be the racial skill given to the race. Even the free augmentation can eventually be purchased by other races. We made this decision so the game remains as balanced as possible.

In regards to "human slayer" weapons

| Text = Those of Dereth have traditionally called the weapons that are empowered to slay Isparians "human slayers" but this term is technically incomplete. These weapons are empowered by Bael'Zharon, and that curse allows them to be much more effective against not only Isparians but also the allies and members of their kingdoms. As members of other races accept the invitation to ally with and join the Isparian kingdoms they too will become susceptible to the power Bael'Zharon has bestowed upon these weapons.

As such, the peoples of Dereth will begin to refer to these weapons as cursed or empowered by Bael'Zharon and they will be effective against the members of alternate races who also join the Isparian kingdoms. Bael'Zharon hates Asheron and his power will be more deadly against the Isparians that Asheron called and to any of the other races who fall under Asheron's protection. (Which is to say, the player characters who choose these races.)

As for racial skills, I will give you another hint. Each new race will have a racial skill and a specific free Augmentation to start. We want the races to be cool to play, but we also want the other races to have the same potential as existing races since anyone can (eventually) purchase the augmentation.

The first new race will be Shadows. They will be introduced in the April event. Shadows will come in two types: Umbraens, who will have no legs and resemble Umbris and Panumbris Shadows (among others), and Panumbraens, which will have legs. These two Shadow types are still counted as one new additional race, and there are still three other races which will be introduced.

New Races Edit

Details at: 2009 Letter From the Producer, Shedding Skin, and Dev Comments - New Races

New playable races are planned on being added. Currently, the plan is to add four new races total, with one being added in April and another being added every two months. These races will all be non-human races - they are not planning on introducing Silverans, Rouleans, Milanteans, or the Souia-Vey as playable human heritages.

Story-wise, the new playable shadows will be followers of Isin Dule, a close friend of Ilservian Palacost in life and the traitorous Shadow General of Bael'Zharon during the Fourth Sending of Darkness. Using the work of the Virindi Aerbax, Isin Dule has discovered a way to subdue the chaos within them. Isin has struck a deal with Asheron and these newly 'freed' Shadows have been allowed the full protection of the Light that Asheron grants to Isparians.

Gameplay/Balance-wise, the Shadows (and all the new races) will be identical to humans in most aspects. They will have the same innate protections and armor and Weeping Weapons will work the same on all the playable races. The only difference in the new races will be their starting skills and their free starting augmentations - augmentations which other races will have access to via the regular Augmentations Quests.
