* You must have completed the [[Hoshino Kei Trial Quest]] at least once to start this quest.

* This quest is a prerequisite for the [[Hoshino Prison Break]] quest.
# Speak with [[Darviss]] inside the building in [[Hoshino Town 2|Hoshino Town #2]] at 78.1N, 42.2W.
#* Route/Shortcut: [[Stonehold]] to [[Woodshore Cottages]] portal at 69.6N, 20.2W.
#* There are many spectral enemies around the building and inside.  Use caution!
# Enter the [[Nanjou Shou-jen Academy]] portal located directly behind him.
#* The dungeon is linear and divided into 3 main sections each with a locked door at the end.  Each section has traps which cast vulns, walls, and bolts.  The first section is bludgeon, the second is pierce, and the third is slash.  The Tanada all seem to be weak to bludgeon damage.
# Work your way through the linear dungeon, until you reach a [[Sapphire Door]].
# Kill the nearby [[Spectral Sapphire Assassin]]s to spawn the [[Spectral Sapphire Gatekeeper]].
# Kill the Gatekeeper and loot a {{Icon Link Small|Sapphire Door Key}} from his corpse.
# Use the key to open to door.
# Continue through the linear dungeon, and repeat this process 2 more times, using an {{Icon Link Small|Emerald Door Key}} and {{Icon Link Small|Ruby Door Key}} on their respective doors.
# After using the Ruby Key, you will enter the final room, with the [[Spectral Nanjou Master]] located inside.
# Kill the master and loot the {{Icon Link Small|Spectral Nanjou Master's Sword}} and [[Legendary Key]] from his corpse (he drops 9 of each).
# Give the sword to [[Darviss]], who is also in the room for your reward.  Turning in flags you for the next quest in the series, [[Tanada Intercept and Slaughter]].

# Speak to [[Kousha]] and [[Kinchou]], NPCs in Hoshino Town. They are side by side on the second floor of a house. Note the house is not safe, and creatures spawn on both floors.

# Go to the Tanada Toresen Temple.

# Once inside, find and kill 6 Neophytes. Loot their masks. Everyone in the fellow needs their own 6 kills and 6 masks. This completes the task for one of the NPCs. Note the Gunjin and Trainers guarding the neophytes hit very hard and are on a fast respawn. It is advisable you fight in the narrow hallways, using some members of the fellow as a meat shield while the rest kill then switching roles. You may also want to assign a dedicated healer.
# Make your way to a room with an opening into a pit. You will see frost wave traps down below. Do not jump below, but instead on a wooden ledge across from the opening in the wall.
# Jump your way across using the wooden ledges. Most are 1/2 or 2/3 shift jumps. If you fall, you can run back up and try again but beware of the traps below.
# From the final ledge, jump down into a small room.
# Ahead, kill the boss and loot a book from him. He drops 5. This completes the task for the 2nd NPC.
# Go back to the NPCs and turn in the book and masks.

Walkthrough & Notes

  1. Speak with Darviss inside the building in Hoshino Town #2 at 78.1N, 42.2W.
    • Route/Shortcut: Stonehold to Woodshore Cottages portal at 69.6N, 20.2W.
    • There are many spectral enemies around the building and inside. Use caution!
  2. Enter the Nanjou Shou-jen Academy portal located directly behind him.
    • The dungeon is linear and divided into 3 main sections each with a locked door at the end. Each section has traps which cast vulns, walls, and bolts. The first section is bludgeon, the second is pierce, and the third is slash. The Tanada all seem to be weak to bludgeon damage.
  3. Work your way through the linear dungeon, until you reach a Sapphire Door.
  4. Kill the nearby Spectral Sapphire Assassins to spawn the Spectral Sapphire Gatekeeper.
  5. Kill the Gatekeeper and loot a Sapphire Door Key from his corpse.
  6. Use the key to open to door.
  7. Continue through the linear dungeon, and repeat this process 2 more times, using an Emerald Door Key and Ruby Door Key on their respective doors.
  8. After using the Ruby Key, you will enter the final room, with the Spectral Nanjou Master located inside.
  9. Kill the master and loot the Spectral Nanjou Master's Sword and Legendary Key from his corpse (he drops 9 of each).
  10. Give the sword to Darviss, who is also in the room for your reward. Turning in flags you for the next quest in the series, Tanada Intercept and Slaughter.
    • Note: The surface portal is a hot drop back into the house in Hoshino Town.
