Overview

There are three sides to this quest, each offering a unique reward. Note that this quest has no actual effect on your loyalties to Silyun or Sanamar.

Walkthrough & Notes

1. Run north of Fort Tethana to the Tumerok Post at 12.2N 68.1W and go in, tie to the surface portal (or just go through it) so you can easily return if you die.
   • Optional: Continue north to a large blackened battlefield and go to the north side where you'll find Lord Marsan's Log Book on the ground at 17.0N 68.1W.
2. The dungeon portal to The Dark Spiral is on top of a smoking hill in the middle of the blackened area. Climb up the hill at 15.9N, 68.8W.
3. The dungeon is very convoluted and you can run in circles endlessly, so either look at the map, or follow these directions closely. From the drop go down until you come to a 3 way branching intersection, take the middle tunnel, the rest of the intersections past here will be Y splits. Take the right split, then the left split, then the right split, then it will go down to a jump.
4. Pick up Lore of the Dark Spiral from the floor.
5. Bring Lord Marsan's Log Book to Lieutenant Durgan in Fort Tethana (1.5N, 71.7W) for an xp reward.
6. Hand in the Lore of the Dark Spiral to one of the following NPCs to receive your main reward.
   • Give to Lieutenant Durgan in Fort Tethana (1.5N, 71.7W) for the Tethana Manifesto.
   • Give to Lieutenant Dialossa at the Royal Hall in Sanamar (70.0N, 62.4W) for the Viamontian Pennant of Loyalty.
   • Give to Lieutenant Allandal near Plateau Village (42.9N, 42.4W) for the Shield of the Strathelar Elite.
7. Optional: If you do not want your item reward, hand it back to the NPC to receive an experience reward instead.

Unfortunately, his ramblings do nothing to help us assess the true nature of this foe - simply inspire a certain level of skepticism and make me wonder if this is a ploy by Elysa or the Viamontians. Nothing could be so great as he describes."

It concisely details what we, the citizens and soldiers of Tethana, would have of any who would claim sovereignity over us. Perhaps reading it will bolster your will as well, and you will be inspired to stand against tyranny? If it does not inspire you, return it to me for a further reward."

Handing in Shield of the Strathelar Elite
