Overview

During the Elements of Revenge story arc Martine attacked the starter towns where new Isparians first land on Dereth. He destroyed all the starting locations except for Holtburg, Shoushi, and Yaraq. In response Queen Elysa increased the defenses at the three remaining towns. In this quest you have to aid the local guards at all three of the towns then attack Martine's base of operations. The plot was to create Simulacrums to infiltrate the Queen's Guard and assassinate Borelean Strathelar, the Queen's son.

Walkthrough & Notes

Holtburg

1. Talk to Sir Rylanan at 41.6N, 34.2E, in the Advocate Tower near Holtburg.
2. Go to the house at 42.8N 29.5E and kill the Hollow Minions in the basement. One will drop a A Cryptic Note.
   • Optional: Talk to the Reformed Bandit outside the house after you loot the note to watch him portal recall away.
3. Return the Cryptic Letter to Sir Rylanan who will direct you to the Asuger Temple at 45.1N, 30.4E.
4. Make your way through the dungeon until you find Hollow Minions and hallways that are colored red. This means you are near the end.
5. Kill the level 30 Hollow Minion boss and loot the Storage Key.
6. Use the key to open the Storage Chest and loot the Glass Spherule.
7. Return to Sir Rylanan and hand him the Spherule to get experience and 3 Golem Hearts.
8. Rylanan will give you File:Sir Rylanan's Letter to Sir Tenshin Icon.png Sir Rylanan's Letter to Sir Tenshin to take to the next town to continue the quest.

Shoushi

1. Give Sir Rylanan's Letter to Sir Tenshin to Sir Tenshin at 32.8S, 73.3E, in the Advocate Tower near Shoushi.
2. Go to the farm house at 37.4S, 75.5E where the Ostentatious Farmer lives and use the trap door in front of the fireplace. You will be portaled into the Farmer's Basement.
3. Use the candle on the wall to reveal a passageway behind the fireplace.
4. Run down to passageway until you come to two rooms with 2 Swamp Rats.
5. In the room on the left you will find an unlocked Storage Chest with a Folded Guard's Uniform and A Folded Note. The uniform is the item you need to continue the quest.
   • You can can run back to the trap door and use it return to the farm house. There is a candle lever on the other side of the fireplace that opens it from the other side too.
6. Return to Sir Tenshin and hand him the Uniform to receive experience and 3 Golem Hearts.
7. Tenshin will give you will give you File:Sir Tenshin's Letter to Dame Tsaya Icon.png Sir Tenshin's Letter to Dame Tsaya to take to the next town to continue the quest.

Yaraq

1. Give Sir Tenshin's Letter to Dame Tsaya to Dame Tsaya at 21.0S, 0.8W, in the Advocate Tower near Yaraq.
2. Go to the house at 23.7S, 2.8W where the Stranger in Town lives and talk to him. He will direct you to the Darkened Halls at 20.7S, 0.7E (You must speak with Dame Tsaya again before entering this portal)
3. Travel through the Darkened Halls till you reach a room filled with Hollow Minions and a Captured Adventurer suspended by energy between 4 pillars.
4. In the room is a level 30 Hollow Minion that drops a Storage Key and An Unsigned Message.
5. Behind the Captured Adventurer is a Storage Chest that you can unlock with the Storage Key. Inside the chest is a Human Husk.
   • There is a hallway out of the room with the chest that leads right to a surface portal.
6. Return to Dame Tsaya and hand her the Husk to receive experience and 3 Golem Hearts.
7. Tsaya will give you will give you File:Dame Tsaya's Letter to Sir Rylanan Icon.png Dame Tsaya's Letter to Sir Rylanan to take to the next town to continue the quest.

Fort Witshire

1. After you complete the quests for each of the Guards you will return the town where you started.
2. Give the Guard your last letter and he/she will direct you to Fort Witshire and flag you to use the Underground Passage which is really just the Witshire Dungeon. The Guard will also give you a Copy of Witshire's Key.
3. Travel through the Witshire Dungeon until you reach the Fort Witshire Surface Portal. In the dungeon keep doing up until you reach a door that leads to an area with red virindi walls. There is a level 29 Hollow Minion near the surface portal.
   • Warning: The drop from the surface portal is very hot with about a half dozen Hollow Minions.
4. From the drop go to the door of the house in the fort and open it with the Copy of Witshire's Key.
5. Use the trap door in the house to be portaled into the Hall of Hollows.
6. Go down through the dungeon until you reach a huge room with a named Hollow Minion: Dranith Menacet.
7. Kill Menacet and loot Menacet's Orders off his corpse.
8. Return to the Guard for your reward.

Holtburg

Sir Rylanan

Sir Rylanan tells you, "I've recently been assigned to Holtburg to build a garrision and be on the lookout for suspicious happenings. There is one fellow on the outskirts of town that I've been keeping my eye on. He's just moved here from Marae Lassel and sometimes comes into town for provisions. He says he's been "reformed", but I can spot a bandit when I see one! Townsfolk say they've spotted shady-looking guests coming and going from his house at odd hours. Could you go check on him? His house lies to the northwest of town, past the Holtburg West Training Academy."

Reformed Bandit

Reformed Bandit tells you, "Greetings, stranger. I've done many things to be ashamed of in the past, but I've come here to make a new start near the fair town of Holtburg. I enjoy the peace and quiet of these parts. Would you mind if I asked you to be on your way? I am entertaining some important guests, and I don't want them to be disturbed."

The "reformed" bandit has an extremely guilty look on his face. He even looks as if he might run for the hills

Handing in A Cryptic Note

You give Sir Rylanan A Cryptic Note

Sir Rylanan tells you, "You say you found this note in that bandit's house? Surrounded by a pack of Hollow Minions? I knew that fellow was up to no good! Look here...it refers to Asuger Temple, up to the north. Last I heard, the temple was just a Banderling hideout...harmless really. I wonder what sort of trouble might be brewing up there? Find out what is going on, and I'm sure I could find something in the Guard's coffers to reward you with."

Sir Rylanan tells you, "I believe Sir Tenshin would be very interested to hear about your discoveries. He is heading up the garrision down in Shoushi. This letter will serve as your introduction to him--I have chronicled your discoveries, as well as the contents of the note you found earlier.

Normally it's a cause to celebrate when one's neighbor moves up in the world...but why is he acting so distantly when he comes to town to stock up on provisions?

Dame Tsaya tells you, "Nonetheless, perhaps you could aid me as well. Queen Elysa recently appointed me to lead the garrison here in Yaraq. She was deeply grieved when the 12 Training Halls were destroyed and wants to ensure that no harm will come to her subjects here.

I'm sure he'd be happy to meet you and make you feel right at home."

Dame Tsaya tells you, "The stranger actually asked you to visit his new "friend" down in the Darkened Halls? That dismal place has always been just the lair of some lowly Drudges, to my knowledge...perhaps you should investigate this matter. If you find anything out of the ordinary, I'd appreciate it if you brought it to me for inspection. Something just doesn't sound quite right."
