Overview

During the Elements of Revenge story arc Martine attacked the starter towns where new Isparians first land on Dereth. He destroyed all the starting locations except for Holtburg, Shoushi, and Yaraq. In response Queen Elysa increased the defenses at the three remaining towns. In this quest you have to aid the local guards at all three of the towns then attack Martine's base of operations. The plot was to create Simulacrums to infiltrate the Queen's Guard and assassinate Borelean Strathelar, the Queen's son.

The quest can be started in either Holtburg, Shoushi, or Yaraq. The order of the quest varies by where you start it:

• Shoushi > Yaraq > Holtburg
• Holtburg > Shoushi > Yaraq
• Yaraq > Holtburg > Shoushi

Since Shoushi's task is the least difficult, followed by Yaraq, and then Holtburg, that is the order this guide presents.

Walkthrough & Notes

Shoushi

1. Speak with Sir Tenshin at 32.8S, 73.3E, in the Advocate Tower near Shoushi.
2. Go to the farm house at 37.4S, 75.5E where the Ostentatious Farmer lives and use the trap door in front of the fireplace. You will be portaled into the Farmer's Basement.
3. Use the candle on the wall to reveal a passageway behind the fireplace.
4. Run down to passageway until you come to two rooms with 2 Swamp Rats.
5. In the room on the left you will find an unlocked Storage Chest with a Folded Guard's Uniform and A Folded Note. The uniform is the item you need to continue the quest.
   • You can can run back to the trap door and use it return to the farm house. There is a candle lever on the other side of the fireplace that opens it from the other side too.
6. Return to Sir Tenshin and hand him the Uniform to receive experience and 3 Golem Hearts.
7. Tenshin will give you will give you Sir Tenshin's Letter to Dame Tsaya to take to the next town to continue the quest.

Yaraq

1. Give Sir Tenshin's Letter to Dame Tsaya to Dame Tsaya at 21.0S, 0.8W, in the Advocate Tower near Yaraq.
2. Go to the house at 23.7S, 2.8W where the Stranger in Town lives and talk to him. He will direct you to the Darkened Halls at 20.7S, 0.7E (You must speak with Dame Tsaya again before entering this portal)
3. Travel through the Darkened Halls till you reach a room filled with Hollow Minions and a Captured Adventurer suspended by energy between 4 pillars.
4. In the room is a level 30 Hollow Minion that drops a Storage Key and An Unsigned Message.
5. Behind the Captured Adventurer is a Storage Chest that you can unlock with the Storage Key. Inside the chest is a Human Husk.
   • There is a hallway out of the room with the chest that leads right to a surface portal.
6. Return to Dame Tsaya and hand her the Husk to receive experience and 3 Golem Hearts.
7. Tsaya will give you will give you Dame Tsaya's Letter to Sir Rylanan to take to the next town to continue the quest.

Holtburg

1. Give Dame Tsaya's Letter to Sir Rylanan to Sir Rylanan at 41.6N, 34.2E, in the Advocate Tower near Holtburg.
2. Go to the house at 42.8N 29.5E and kill the Hollow Minions in the basement. One will drop a A Cryptic Note.
   • Optional: Talk to the Reformed Bandit outside the house after you loot the note to watch him portal recall away.
3. Return the Cryptic Letter to Sir Rylanan who will direct you to the Asuger Temple at 45.1N, 30.4E.
4. Make your way through the dungeon until you find Hollow Minions and hallways that are colored red. This means you are near the end.
5. Kill the level 30 Hollow Minion boss and loot the Storage Key.
6. Use the key to open the Storage Chest and loot the Glass Spherule.
7. Return to Sir Rylanan and hand him the Spherule to get experience and 3 Golem Hearts.
8. Rylanan will give you Sir Rylanan's Letter to Sir Tenshin to take to the next town to continue the quest.

Fort Witshire

1. After you complete the quests for each of the Guards you will return the town where you started.
2. Give the Guard your last letter and he/she will direct you to Fort Witshire and flag you to use the Underground Passage which is really just the Witshire Dungeon. The Guard will also give you a Copy of Witshire's Key.
3. Travel through the Witshire Dungeon until you reach the Fort Witshire Surface Portal. In the dungeon keep doing up until you reach a door that leads to an area with red virindi walls. There is a level 29 Hollow Minion near the surface portal.
   • Warning: The drop from the surface portal is very hot with about a half dozen Hollow Minions.
4. From the drop go to the door of the house in the fort and open it with the key.
5. Use the trap door in the house to be portaled into the Hall of Hollows.
6. Go down through the dungeon until you reach a huge room with a named Hollow Minion: Dranith Menacet.
7. Kill Menacet and loot Menacet's Orders off his corpse.
8. Return to the Guard for your reward.

Sir Tenshin's Opening Dialog

Sir Tenshin tells you, "Greetings! I've just come to head the garrison here in Shoushi. The townsfolk of this peaceful city must be protected, and everyone should do their share to help! Could you help me to investigate a certain matter?"

Sir Tenshin tells you, "There is a farmer who lives a little ways past the Shoushi South Outpost. He's been a normal townsmember for a very long time, but no one can speak for how he's come into so much wealth recently. Normally it's a cause to celebrate when one's neighbor moves up in the world...but why is he acting so distantly when he comes to town to stock up on provisions?"

Sir Tenshin tells you, "Could you go and check in on him? I am sure there is nothing amiss, but I just want to be sure..."

Ostentatious Farmer (All interactions)

Ostentatious Farmer tells you, "Welcome to my grand opening! You are welcome to peruse my wares...but please, stay to the front of my shop--the heat from the fire is very strong, and I don't want you to get burned."

Ostentatious Farmer tells you, "A fine choice. I have recently come into...an inheritance, so I can keep my prices lower than the other shops around town."

Ostentatious Farmer tells you, "Why, I don't mind if I do. I have plenty of ready cash these days."

Ostentatious Farmer tells you, "Thank you for your patronage. Now please be on your way, I have much work to do."

Ostentatious Farmer tells you, "How dare you nose around my house, when I expressely asked you not to? Ok, you can buy something, but after that, get out, GET OUT!"

Ostentatious Farmer tells you, "Yes, that's a good one. Take one, take them all, just hurry up with your shopping and leave my shop!"

Ostentatious Farmer tells you, "Alright, alright, alright! Give it to me and get the dickens out of my shop!"

Returning to Sir Tenshin

Sir Tenshin tells you, "There you are! Have you found out what that farmer's secret is? Let me know if he's been hoarding anything that could be considered...unusual in his house."

Handing in Folded Guard's Uniform

You give Sir Tenshin Folded Guard's Uniform.

Sir Tenshin tells you, "You say you found this Guard's uniform in a hidden room in the farmer's basement? What's more, he had many of them? And he's stockpiling a large armament as well?"

Sir Tenshin tells you, "How could he have found access to these uniforms? These are the sole property of Her Majesty's Guard--and are dispensed only through our headquarters. They must have been stolen whilst our quartermaster was in his cups...I will alert our Queen of this affair immediately."

Sir Tenshin tells you, "I believe Dame Tsaya in Yaraq should be alerted to this affair as well. Please take this letter to her--I have included your recent discoveries. I'm sure she will be highly interested to hear of what you have found."

Dame Tsaya tells you, "I am mentoring Sir Tenshin in the responsibilities that come with being the leader of an important garrison. Did he send any letters for me along with you? I do like to keep track of his progress."

Handing in Sir Tenshin's Letter to Dame Tsaya

You give Dame Tsaya Sir Tenshin's Letter to Dame Tsaya.

Dame Tsaya quickly glances over the letter from her comrade in Shoushi.

Dame Tsaya tells you, "What a disappointing happenstance. Not only has a farmer been allowed to stockpile an arsenal in his basement, but he is concealing stolen Guards uniforms as well? Tenshin must learn to keep better order than this."

Dame Tsaya tells you, "Nonetheless, perhaps you could aid me as well. Queen Elysa recently appointed me to lead the garrison here in Yaraq. She was deeply grieved when the 12 Training Halls were destroyed and wants to ensure that no harm will come to her subjects here."

Dame Tsaya tells you, "To that end, I have a small task for you: We have heard that a newcomer to this town has moved into a villa that has lain abandoned for many years. No one knows where he came from, although it is said he speaks with a Northern accent. Would you stop by his residence, and find out more about him? He lives to the southwest, near Lubziklan al-Luq's apple orchards."

Speaking to Dame Tsaya again

Dame Tsaya tells you, "Hail, adventurer! Queen Elysa recently appointed me to lead the garrison here in Yaraq. She was deeply grieved when the 12 Training Halls were destroyed and wants to ensure that no harm will come to her subjects here."

Dame Tsaya tells you, "To that end, I have a small task for you: We have heard that a newcomer to this town has moved into a villa that has lain abandoned for many years. No one knows where he came from, although it is said he speaks with a Northern accent. Would you stop by his residence, and find out more about him? Speaking to Stranger in Town

Stranger in Town tells you, "Greetings, my friend, greetings! Welcome to my humble home. The hurly-burly of Marae Lassel proved too much for me, so I've decided to move here and call Yaraq home. Blend in. Make some friends among the peaceful townsfolk. In fact, I've made a good friend over in the Darkened Halls. He's recently moved here too. Why don't you pay him a visit as well? I'm sure he'd be happy to meet you and make you feel right at home."

Returning to Dame Tsaya

Dame Tsaya tells you, "The stranger actually asked you to visit his new "friend" down in the Darkened Halls? That dismal place has always been just the lair of some lowly Drudges, to my knowledge...perhaps you should investigate this matter. If you find anything out of the ordinary, I'd appreciate it if you brought it to me for inspection. Something just doesn't sound quite right."

Handing in Human Husk

You give Dame Tsaya Human Husk.

Appalled, Dame Tsaya gingerly handles the human husk and covers it with a linen cloth.

Dame Tsaya tells you, "You found this in the Darkened Halls? Poor soul. I can only wonder what he went through in his last tortures. What dark intent could spur the Hollow Minions into committing such an atrocity? No wonder that stranger asked you so nicely to visit his comrades in those Halls--he must have been seeded here to send weak, innocent victims to their deaths--luckily he failed in taking your measure. I must write Sir Rylanan immediately and alert him to the crimes being committed here."

Dame Tsaya tells you, "Please take this letter to Sir Rylanan in Holtburg. He must know immediately of the terrible crimes that are being committed here in Yaraq."
