: Possibly, but I find it interesting that SPD says to look "on, above and below Dereth." Taken literally, this would mean that there are markers either below sea level or in dungeons. So, the remaining marker could fit into the "below" category, or the NPC may just be referring to markers to come in future months. -- [[User:Quanta|Quanta]] 23:45, 14 January 2009 (EST)

:: Interesting idea, also because the new titles in the patch tree, which unfortunately don't have any further references, indicate this above (Mountain Climber, Sky Diver) and below (Spelunker). But the Mountain Climber Markers give a special message, the other ones do not, so I guess they are "theme-less". Anyone tested other "almost unclimbable" Mountains? Such as Caul, Obsidian Rim, and VoD?

Revision as of 06:02, 15 January 2009

It looks like this quest will be updated in future events. We should use the talk page for checked locations --An Adventurer 13:41, 13 January 2009 (CST)

Shifting Tactics Checked Locations

Update: I've ran a Cell.dat converter and MakeMeAMap, and I do not see any new changes on the landscape - this is after I had already visited the 7 locations. I know its "cheating", but I think the ACVault staff did the same thing - that would explain why they had the first 7 listed so quickly but have made no progress since then. Regardless, I do not think there are any more markers left to be found on the surface - I think the remaining 3 are underground. One thing I am unsure of, though, is if the inside of bunkers, houses, and such are located within the same landblock as their outside structure. If not, the 3 remaining markers could be inside landscape POIs --An Adventurer 15:12, 13 January 2009 (CST)

scratch that, I just tried the same thing on a fresh copy of this month's cell.dat from my laptop, and I do not see any landscape changes on that one either. So the remaining two can be outside. --An Adventurer 15:54, 13 January 2009 (CST)

The NPC talks about themes, I guess this month's theme is mountain climbing. The question is, how many markers are themed.. since there are 5 mountain climb markers found, and 4, well, I can't really see a theme in it? Been running around between Baishi and Q'al, haven't found anything, but well, Alinco doesn't pick them up, GoArrow's find-function only when you are really near, and they are harder to spot than the gift boxes of last patch. So I do wonder how 8 of them popped up relatively quickly on AC Vault? And how was the 9th found? Please help a by now rather frustrated explorer :) -- Sanddh 14:30, 14 January 2009 (CET)

@Sanddh, they used the graphac/mapac as well. It shows the landblock changes for most of the markers. -- Quanta 15:05, 14 January 2009 (EST)

Strange then, that at least the Linvak did not show up that way... or one of the others, if I understand Adventurer right. Since until now, all Markers have been on the surface. And for the second theme, if any, if the Dryreach hadn't been there, I would have thought it being "water", since the Holt, the Lake one and the Obsidian Spawn are all near water. But alas... Dryreach is quite, well.. dry. However, I will give it a try, and my next project will be running along River Prosper from beginning to end I guess..... -- Sanddh 21:25, 14 January 2009 (CET)

My guestimation is that there are 5 mountain climber markers and 5 "miscllaneous" markers. I have no justification for this, other than that it's symmetrical. There have been two markers in the north mountains, two in the south, one in the n dires mountains, and the other markers in north/central Osteth. <redacted, don't want to lead people down a possibly incorrect path> -- Quanta 12:38, 14 January 2009 (EST)
