Cool, yeah I misunderstood. That would be nice. Because of the variability in patch name I made a small adjustment so that the links have a consistent appearance and don't encroach on the ToC when patch names are very long. --Tlosk 20:32, 13 August 2008 (CDT)

You can see the results of my experiment on the Reprisals and A Change in Tactics pages. This uses a wiki template, Template:Patch Navigation Links, which means that we can edit the template to change the style. The template can be edited just like any other page, and categorized as well.

The usage in the patch page would be like this:

I think you misunderstood what Jedismj was proposing, Tlosk. He was suggesting that each patch page has a link to the patches that came before and after it. This would allow easier navigation between patches, without having to go back to the page with all of the patches. I think this is a good idea. I'm going to experiment a little with the layout of these links.

It works ok, so if you want you can go through all the patch pages and replace this:

bgcolor=lightgray| All Patches

with this:

bgcolor=lightgray| All Patches

bgcolor=lightgray| Current Patch

bgcolor=lightgray| Previous Patch

It will be the same for all patch pages, all we'd need to change now is update Previous Patch and Current Patch when a new patch comes out (actually this will also let us do that on the main page as well for the links in Topics.

If you don't have time, I can add them as I add the splash screens (in the middle of that, but slow).--Tlosk 15:10, 13 August 2008 (CDT)

It would be technically difficult, because links would have to be updated for all 100 patch pages each time a new patch came out, which isn't realistic. Though it might perhaps be possible using a double redirect, I'll try it. --Tlosk 14:59, 13 August 2008 (CDT)

Just a suggestion.. would it be a good idea to have a link to the previous and next patch on each patch page? if that makes sense... For instance on a patch page, for instance Dark Thaw.. it will say: Previous patch: Sudden Season. Next patch Shadows of the Past.

If anyone is looking for something easy to do that will help the Wiki a lot, we need the dev notes/teasers/rollout articles/etc for Sudden Season (Dec 99) to Evolution (Jun 07).

Articles from July 03 to now are still on Turbine's site at: http://ac.turbine.com/?page_id=40

Many of the Zone pages from 1999-2003 are available at: Category:Turbine

Older patch pages are only available on fan sites. While Maggies and ACvault have said we cannot directly copy their work, we can at least compare the two to see if they contain the exact same text. The Renegade Guild also has many old notes, along with the now dead fan-site AC Stratics. And I don't think there is anyone at Stratics that will complain if their notes were copied (hint hint). Since all these fan sites originally copied their notes from the offical Asheron's Call site, all the text/information should be the same.
