Hey

Yes, I agree with you that the tables are superior. It's just I didn't like having an entire page of information loaded everytime (especially so many icons) to find what will be a certain wield or level requirement. So I was thinking:

* Pluralise categories (I think this makes more sense for lists anyway), redirect pages to the categories, and then add smaller tables containing the most useful information in the wield categories.
* Redirect the named pages to the categories so it's all nice and tidy on one page.

This way there will be smaller pages to load and less pages to search. With a numbered list on the category page we won't need to use categorycount parserfunction for every item on the list.

Finally, I was thinking that would some javescript we could basic tooltips so we just hover over items in the category list to get the information that you mentioned. <strike>I don't know much about javascript, though, and it will need Tlosk to add stuff to the installation (another reason I wanted to use less templates)</strike> (easier than I thought!). The recent game news has kinda killed my motivation though lol...

edit: oh, I forgot to mention that weapon tables were massively out of date as they hadn't been updated (well, a few here and there) for the [[Master of Arms]] event. That's the other reason I wanted to try something else, really. I was maintaining some of those pages for a while, but it's so freaking tedious a job to do :/

== Tooltips ==
When I was doing research into tooltips, I found a popular script that is used by many gaming wikis in one form or another. The guy who created it is [http://wowpedia.org/User:Pcj Pcj] from the wowwiki/wowpedia. It's a bit fancy, but I think we could get trim it down to something simple for our wiki. I wonder if Tlosk could get it working.

Once the code has been installed, from what I've seen you just add tags to the template that you want to appear on the destination page. This is why I was going to separate images from templates also.

Anyway, not sure if all this is worth it anymore, do you think that AC will have a future with F2P? I noticed Sev's thread didn't really say that game would never receive a substantial update or that it would ever close. I can't imagine the devs doing all those tech updates for nothing...

== Quest guide changes ==
Hey

Basically I wanted to remove some duplicate information and unneeded sections from the quest guide.

# Removed rewards summary along with all multiple sections and tables, and added a main rewards section to the body with a single table per task.
# Removed the duplicate list of items (objects no longer have icons since they removed the icon from the id panel) and changed wikilinks in the walkthrough to small icons (these could be changed to itemlinks now for tooltips).
# Removed header link parameters (“title link = true” etc) from the summary template as the majority of quest guides will have a walkthrough, list of dungeons and some sort of reward.

I was hoping that icons in the walkthrough would be smaller enough to still be helpful but not distract from reading the text. Tooltips could work nicely as you wouldn't have to leave the page to view additional panels for all items related to the quest. They don't always load very quickly on this installation unfortunately... Wikkii is so very slow sometimes :/

Crazy idea time! what are your thoughts on swallowing our pride and using the evil Wikia site again? it's pretty speedy and has the old monobook/vector type skin when you're logged in.

Tooltips

When I was doing research into tooltips, I found a popular script that is used by many gaming wikis in one form or another. The guy who created it is Pcj from the wowwiki/wowpedia.

Quest guide changes

Hey

Basically I wanted to remove some duplicate information and unneeded sections from the quest guide.

  1. Removed rewards summary along with all multiple sections and tables, and added a main rewards section to the body with a single table per task.
  2. Removed the duplicate list of items (objects no longer have icons since they removed the icon from the id panel) and changed wikilinks in the walkthrough to small icons (these could be changed to itemlinks now for tooltips).
  3. Removed header link parameters (“title link = true” etc) from the summary template as the majority of quest guides will have a walkthrough, list of dungeons and some sort of reward.
