Story Arc:
Introduced: Shattered Lines Previous Event - All Live Events - Next Event

Summary

  • Not technically a live event, but the nodes were activated only once at different times on each server. The node activation events also had unique bosses and titles rewards that the standard quest does not.
  1. Speak to Laedron the Geomancer at 59.9S 88.0W in Ayan Baqur. He will give you A Field Guide to Tainted Nodes.
  2. As a server you will need to activate the six nodes|
  3. The blighted creatures found near each node will occasionally drop a Blighted Mana Crystal. The crystals found on all six creatures are identical and can be handed into the small pyramid in the center of the node. The nodes originally required 1,000 crystals each. On Monday, August 4th, Turbine set all unfinished pyramids to 750 crystals -- meaning they only needed 250 crystals to complete them.
  4. Once a node has been filled with crystals, the small floating pyramid in the center will dissappear. A Minion of T'thuun unique to that node will then spawn. When killed, the minion drops a head, for example Head of Obsidian Minion, which grants a unique title (one per server per node).
  5. A golem will spawn adjacent to pyramid. The golem wants 10 mana crystals for additional xp.
  6. Once all six nodes have been completed, all six golems are available for xp for turning in crystals, however all six comprise a single task (handing to any of them advances your turn in count and the reward is the same no matter which one you use). There are no immediately apparent effects for completing all six (the xp for turning in 10 crystals is the same after finishing all six as before).
  7. The following event saw all nodes on all servers completed and Node Golems in place. This retired the activation portion of the quest and any unclaimed titles will not exist on servers that did not complete all nodes.

Node Activation

On August 26th as part of the Ancient Powers event, all remaining nodes were automatically activated with Node Golems present on all servers.

Dialog

Speaking to Laedron the Geomancer

Laedron the Geomancer tells you, "Greetings! Are you here to help reclaim the land's ley lines from the corruption of T'thuun? At the behest of our noble Queen Elysa, the mage Asheron has raised six pyramids over the most tainted ley nodes in Dereth, the sites most under the grip of the wicked creature T'thuun. These pyramids must be powered! Certain creatures found in the vicinity of those nodes sometimes bear tiny crystals of concentrated, tainted mana."

Laedron the Geomancer tells you, "Bring these crystals to each of the pyramids! Once a pyramid has been sufficiently stoked by brave Derethians such as yourself, all that will be required to defeat T'thuun's power at that site is to destroy the guardian that T'thuun has stationed there... I have written a book that explains all this. I'll give you one now..."

Laedron the Geomancer gives you A Field Guide to Tainted Nodes.

Crystal turn-in messages

This pyramid is inactive. It has not yet been fed with any Blight Crystals.

You give Obsidian Node Pyramid Blighted Mana Crystal.

You are the first to contribute a Blight Crystal to this Node Pyramid.
From 1 crystal to 499

The pyramid's light is strengthening, but there will be a long way to go before it is restored. It has not yet reached half strength.

You give Obsidian Node Pyramid Blighted Mana Crystal.

The pyramid pulses with light as it absorbs the Blight Crystal.
From 500 crystals to 899

The pyramid pulses with a robust inner light. It has reached half strength but still requires more Blight Crystals before it becomes fully functional.
From 900 crystals to 999

The pyramid is almost filled with the required number of Blight Crystals.
1000

The pyramid pulses with light as it absorbs the Blight Crystal.

The pyramid goes dark, and then seems to vaporize in a column of mist. The ground trembles, and a minion of T'thuun steps forth from the fog...

Death of Halaetan Minion of T'thuun

The Minion of T'thuun has been dealt a fatal blow! Its connection to the tainted node of the Halaetan Islands has been severed. The node is cleansed, and a little bit of T'thuun's malevolent power recedes from the face of Dereth...

Death of Obsidian Minion of T'thuun

The Minion of T'thuun has been dealt a fatal blow! Its connection to the tainted node of the Obsidian Plain has been severed. The node is cleansed, and a little bit of T'thuun's malevolent power recedes from the face of Dereth...

Turning the Head of Obsidian Minion into Laedron the Geomancer

You give Laedron the Geomancer Head of Obsidian Minion

Laedron the Geomancer tells you, "A fearsome beast! And this thing was what T'thuun was using to keep the node befouled and under his control? A worthy thing you have done, to destroy it. Allow me to reward you with practical experience and with a title..."

You've earned 210,815,736 experience. (Max at 275)

Laedron has given you the title Champion of the Obsidian Node.

Speaking to the Halaetan Node Golem

Halaetan Node Golem tells you, "The Master keeps me here to keep the node pure. I am the watcher against the blight of T'thuun. I guard the node of the Halaetan Islands. I require Blighted Mana Crystals to maintain function. If you supply such crystals to me or my fellows at the other nodes of Dereth, you will be recognized and rewarded."

Turning in 10 crystals to Halaetan Node Golem

Halaetan Node Golem tells you, "You have supplied ten Blighted Crystals to myself and my servitor brethren of Dereth's six imperiled nodes. Speak to me again to receive your reward of practical knowledge, as provided by my master Lord Asheron"

You've earned 26,351,967 experience. (level 240)

Halaetan Node Golem tells you, "The Master has decreed that you should be rewarded for your logistical support of our node-cleansing facility. I have been authorized to tell you that your contributions make the defeat of the demon T'thuun possible, and you have the thanks of Lord Asheron and all benevolent folk of Dereth"

Speaking to Golem after turn-in

Halaetan Node Golem tells you, "You have been rewarded according to the Master's dictates for your logistical support of the node cleansing network. I am not permitted to reward you further until more time has passed."
