Zerono of HG reports a new global at 12:39AM CST, Jan. 15, 2005! A Banderling war party has been discovered in the ruins of Edelbar!
"We are being invaded at 43.4N, 26.7E. Tons of bandies, small to big. They seem to be protecting the LS near those coords. I got a few SSs for you of the LS before I died. I'll send those in ASAP. A boss mob is in the Bandy attack. His name is Kur'graal. Finally after 2 hours 40 mins, hundreds of deaths, maybe killing blows and a very sore foot on my part (Banderling Hierophant crushes your foot for 208 points of Bludgeoning damage!) we managed to kill everything in the raid...even those poor mites what were just watching....Grats again Taleron Og on the boss kill!"

Arvid of FF reports: "This was broadcast on Frostfell at 1:10 AM EST: A banderling war party has been discovered guarding the road between Glenden Wood and Zaikhal!
The banderlings were amassed at the old Glenden Wood banderling tower at 31.6N, 16.7E. The towers entrance had been fortified by a large chained door; after breaking through we were attacked by another group of banderlings that came from the south, lead by a banderling called Barask.
Barask cheers loudly, Wanga!
Barask was defeated at 1:40am; it took another eight minutes or so to round up the remaining banderlings."

Machine of MT sends a few pics of the Banderling Raid in Yanshi! He reports: "By my best guess I'd say there were at least 100 people there and the battle lasted about 30 minutes. There were many different types of banderlings all the way up to VOD-style Paragons and Champions...lots and lots of them. The boss monster had the appearance of a Champion and my guess was he came out of the building with the door we destroyed. There were 10 or so Champions in there so I figure he was probably just hidden in there among the rest."
Bob adds that the fight took place at the Yanshi festival grounds and Uster got the kill.

I was lucky enough to participate in the raid on Thistledown last night! I was in Shoushi with another character when I saw the global, so I quickly logged in Maggie and ran to the Peddler Tower at 54.1N, 17.0W! It was crazy! Mobs of Paragons, Manglers, Hierophants, Champions, and more. Then after we got the door down, the boss, Hurg'rhal, attacked! When he saw me, he said hello! What a friendly fellow, I thought! But then, before you know it, I was at the lifestone, with only /tells to fill me in on the action.
Diet Barq's avenged my death and received an Ursuin Spike from Hurg'rhal's corpse. Out of curiosity, because it had a workmanship stat, he tried to tinker it and was successful! His friend Nite's Macer poses with the Spike below. I returned to the tower to survey the damage and saw that the lifestone was littered with the corpe of the Peddler. The Traumatized Merchant was found in shock on a nearby hillside!
Scavenger Hunts!
On the evening of January 20, 2005 an emissary appeared seeking help with items to protect Dereth! The Magical Man of FF reports:
Broadcast from +Leo Netherlands> An emissary of the royal guard has appeared outside Shoushi and is looking for master tradesmen to assist him in crafting items needed for the protection of Dereth.
Heya Maggie, Love the site. I logged on to see a message that said a master craftsman was in Holtburg and needed some supplies to help protect Dereth. He said Fellow up and you're going on a scavenger hunt. He wanted a Dinner plate imbued with crippling blow and a perfect diamond ingot (apparently this is exactly what the council needed). Naturally, it was spammed over the allegiance channel. A fellow quickly formed and Brotherhood of the Blade got the requested items in 7 minutes flat. Also there was a reward attached to this quest.
The group I was with was Baruvin, Vanora, and Azland. Bauv, lucky for us, had the ingot, and even more lucky was the imbue done by Vanora.
Broadcast from +Leo Netherlands> Congratulations to the group of The MAgical Man who succeeded in providing me with the items I sought.
Apparently he can't type.
The reward ended up being not so great. A Pot of Thanalim dye, a Writ, and an Arwic Mines Sending gem, but it was great to see Turbine putting in more live events.

Escaped Convict Event!
Broadcast from +Leo Netherlands> Though he loves magic, Ellis is scared of portal space and is avoiding traveling through any portal. He can't be too far from Cragstone at this rate.
Hello Maggie, Yesterday on MT there was a broadcast from +Leo Netherlands about needing help in Glenden Wood at the bar. Went there ASAP. There was a escaped convict named Ellis the Grey. He wanted us to stop him by opening a Trade window and putting magic items in them. So after running from GW to Arwic to Cragstone then to Rithwic, we found him there. Ran after him till a little before Eastham. Stopped him there. @tell +Leo, he came. Ellis The Grey cursed me for stopping him and said he would not go back there then killed himself! +Leo disappeared, got him at his lifestone and put Ellis back in jail. +Leo came back and gave me 5 Mosswart Thanking Stones. They are different from normal ones in that you can't hand them in and they are givable also. I can hang them on my wall. I gave one each to the two players that were right behind me. Love your site!

Ellis the Grey says, "You and your family will be cursed for returning me to Glenden Wood, By my blood" You bow deeply. You say, "Glad I could help" +Leo Netherlands says, "No, please, Thank you. All of you." Broadcast from +Leo Netherlands> Case III has found and distracted Ellis long enough that I could apprehend him. Thank you to everyone who has helped this evening.
January 21, 2005 - HG
Zerono of HG reports: The Royal Guards are warning travelers near Glendenwood, a crazed member of the Order of the Raven Hand is on the loose. Come to the Pub in Glendenwood to find out how to help. He escaped from the prison. We do not know where he is ultimately headed but was seen leaving town heading West. Guthima the Wise of Arwic has been visited by Ellis. He was last seen leaving Arwic and heading West. Though he loves magic, Ellis is scared of portal space and is avoiding traveling through any portal. He can't be moving very fast, then. Ellis the Grey has just been spotted near Cragstone. We have learned that Ellis had family near Eastham. Perhaps he is heading there. Ellis the Grey has been spotted near Rithwic. Ellis the Greu has been apprehended with the assistance of Kisskeen, unfortunately he decided death was better than a return to jail.
Tehanu of HG reports on his conversation with Ellis the Grey!
"While the event was going on, I had a little conversation with Ellis the Grey. I don't think it revealed much, but maybe someone can put pieces together. I started by sending Ellis the Grey a tell that said something like "Magic is a dangerous thing, but it can do good too." Ellis the Grey responded with something about how he wants to turn his slaves into shadows and unleash them to destroy Auberean. I then told him that Shadows cannot be slaves.
Then we got a message that he might be heading for Eastham since he is rumored to have had family there. So, I tried another tactic...the "get the mad man distracted off of destruction and focused on something else" tactic.
You tell Ellis the Grey, "tell me of your family" You tell Ellis the Grey, "what wrongs have been done?" Ellis the Grey tells you, "auberean is corrupt" Lithea Sarmad tells you, "Ellis the Grey tells you, "Isee [sic] powerful mages, many have pledged their servitude to me"" You tell Ellis the Grey, "auberean is not corrupt, but the minds of many are" Ellis the Grey tells you, "I have heard that people no longer seek the [sic] allow the shadows to be our servants, that can not be allowed" You tell Ellis the Grey, "the Hieromancers still tap the mana streams of Dereth. Beware their awakening!" Ellis the Grey tells you, "I seek the destruction of the Hieromancers" You tell Ellis the Grey, "you may succeed but it will destroy you" Ellis the Grey tells you "I will resurect as a higher being, even stronger than the lap dog Asheron" You tell Ellis the Grey, "aye, lap dog though he is...do not trust in teachings that few fully understand"
After that, I told him to seek out Nuhmudira (my queen), and that she could better counsel him before he destroys himself. He did not respond. I then asked him if he walked the same path as the great shadow, Palacost. Again he did not respond. Soon after, he was spotted in Rithwic, caught and committed suicide. I guess we'll have to wait and see if he truly resurrects into something more powerful than Asheron as he believed...."

+LeO Milan says, "She may be going to see the obsidian span, though, as she is drawn to anything magical." Fflewddur Fflam of FF reports: "There was a broadcast that +LeO Milan needed our aid. I recalled to my LS in Glendon Wood, and found out, with the help of my clanmates Cheese Slayer, Ciara ni Fyst, Sven Beornson, Absolution, and Damien Sarin, that he was looking for an escaped prisoner named Nuancil. Milan suggested she would head to the Obsidian Span, and head east. I ran there and did not find her. I decided to head east to Arwic. When I came to the orchard near what we call the A-Hole lifestone (where many thieves and PK's once lifestoned ;-)), I came upon her. She muttered that she needed components. I tried to open a trade window with her, but she would cancel the trades. We ran from Arwic, then to Cragstone, then towards Eastham. Finally, I managed to hand her 4 prismatic scarabs.
She stopped and said that she could probably use those. Then, +LeO Milan showed up. He said she would have to return, as her cell mates missed her. Rather than return, she committed suicide. Milan was not concerned, though, as he knew where she was lifestoned.
+LeO Milan says, "Pitty. But I already know where her lifestone was. She isn't escapting this time." +LeO Milan says, "Thank you all for your assistance. Fflewddur Fflam your assistance was greatly appreciated. Please accept these tokens for your efforts today." +LeO Milan says, "You may disperse those to your fellows who assisted her capture." You say, "Will do Milan" +Leo Milan says, "Would you like a title reflecting your efforts?" Thank you citizens and especiall Fflew ddur Fflam for your assistance in re-capturing Nuancil

Shiek Yabuda sends this pic from the Tormacke event on MT: "I was helping a friend run Bobo when I saw the global that someone in Glenden Wood needed assistance. Apparently Tormacke's master was kidnapped and he needed our help. So, myself and Acid Lord recalled from the quest and headed to Glenden Wood. In GW were ran into a huge mass of bandits. I ran into the blob of orange blips and started casting ring spells. Once the battle was over I was able to find Tormacke. He needed passage to Tufa, so I ran him there. We actually had to run there from Yaraq, because I had happened to forget how to get to Tufa! So.. as we were arriving, his companion was murdered. We cleared the bandits in the area, Tormacke left, and that was that."
