Are Sentinels recognized as part of the Lore?

Question Title: Are Sentinels recognized as part of the Lore?
Category: Backstory
Question: I was reading Chris L'Etoile's most recent story. He made mention of an Advocate who seemed to play the role of a community leader. Well I was just wondering if Sentinels are also considered to be part of the Lore as well? If so, what role are they supposed to serve lore-wise. (Note: I'm not asking the function a Sentinel serves for the game). I'm just curious because I'd love to put one in some fan fiction one of these days. :) Thanks

Answer: The Advocates, of course, are the ranger-like order of peacekeepers established by Elysa Strathelar. They've had an in-character backstory from day one. Sentinels are more powerful and obviously distinctive. I'm working something out... not all the Sents are entirely pleased with it yet.
