Question Title: | What creature litters their lair with torches? |
Category: | Dungeons |
Question: | Am I alone on this? I can't accept the reasoning that the brightness bar can be adjusted to compensate for a dungeon if it were too dark. That's rediculous from my view. I'd be proud to be the torchbearer in a dungeon, it'd add so much to the gameplay! I've played for a month now, and am getting pretty P/O'd about the way things are handled. I can accept things like archers not having shields, magic defense being fairly useless, etc. But a torch could be very useful. I take it though, that things are being geared toward either fanatical high-level characters, or low-level, whining meleers. If there's no use for them, why are they there? Content? How about a dungeon without any lights conveniently placed throughout. You don't have to even hold them to get the benefit of light...just drop them on the ground. Make the players THINK. |

Answer: | The Brightness slider bar is important for people with inherently dark monitors to be able to affect the lighting in some way. I was the victim of this for a long time until I chucked my crappy old monitor, but there are still people who find the game too dark. The slider bar is there to help that. Making a dungeon pitch black so you HAVE to carry a torch is an idea I love. However, we can't do it because anyone can slide their slider bar to fully bright, and the whole purpose of the pitch-black dungeon is defeated. So pitch black dungeons will not likely feature into game play because we can't force people to keep a dungeon dark if they slide the slider bar all the way up. If you like the ambiance, then put your slider back down to dark and carry a torch. But as it is, the slider bar is not going to be removed or changed. Sean. |
