Desecration

The fabled city of Artefon was built after the Fall of the Kings, in those few decades of quiet before we fled into the Shelters.

Built on the banks of the river Prosper, it was known for its great beauty.

And as the place where we entombed our honored dead. Our forefathers, those who game their lives in the service of their fellows, whether they were nobleman, knight, or king, were placed to rest here.

Artefon was to be a monument to the ages of their sacrifice.

Or so we hoped.

The rippling of the land when the Shelters launched sank Artefon and created the lake that now bears its name.

In the years that followed, Artefon rested below the surface of the waters, its ornate memorial tombs flooded.

Someone has dammed the waters flowing from Lake Blessed into the basin of Artefon, and the waves have receded once more from the ruins of the city. At whose behest was this done, and why?
