Question: | Have you guys at Turbine considered large scale dungeons in the vein of Angband and Nethack with large RNG generated dungeons? Or possibly just massive dungeons designed by hand with tricks and traps such as secret walls you need to jump to pass through and random portals to other spots in it. A dungeon of such gruesome nature and complexity that the whole may be unexplored for months would be intriguing to high levels that have 'seen it all' |

Answer: | The larger the dungeon, the longer it takes to pre-process through the pipeline. The pit, for instance, takes about 30 hours to go through the pipe once it's ready to integrate into the world. Additionally, there are server concerns with large numbers of players in a single dungeon that have to be considered. We could do the type of thing you're talking about, but to keep performance up we'd need to split the dungeon into several sections that can be portaled to a from. |
