This guide is intended to be useful to both new, returning, and existing players. Unlike other guides, this guide will focus on end game play. End game play in Asheron's Call begins when your character reaches level 150. This guide will attempt to be comprehensive, but the primary goal is a one-page cheat sheet for end game play. In many circumstances, this guide will link to other wiki pages for more detailed information (e.g. why write yet ANOTHER Colosseum Guide); but other times will attempt to distill information into a more usable template (e.g. this table of weapon max's)

Getting back into it Edit

Remembering how to play Edit

For the truly new or those who have taken long breaks, it can be a challenge to remember even the basics. The best resource to draw you back into the Asheron's Call experience is to hook up with an alliance that reflects your playstyle. Some like to quest, some like to PK or PKL, some like to speak french. Whatever your persuasion, you can likely find a group. If you are starting from square one, you might consider posting on the official forums to find a group. Players are very willing to assist, to the point where you may have to refuse help ("Uhhh you leeched me to 150 overnight? Can you remind me what the jump button is?"). You're next best friend is the Asheron's Call Community Wiki (yup, you're lookin' at it).

Particularly, you will find these guides helpful to new and returning players. As mentioned, other guides deal with the 1-150 experience much better than I could, so we will just point you on your way:

With that out of the way, I can't let you go on unless you have exposure to some basic strategies for endgame play:

Dodging Projectiles TBA War spells and missile projectiles can be dodged. Use your strafe keys, run in circles, step forward or back--just get used to dodging stuff.

Breaking Animations TBA Many animations can be broken or shortened to expedite the action:
  • When picking up items off the ground (e.g. your corpse) hit the spacebar to jump right before the animation to pick up the item begins.
  • Break the healing animation by "jump healing" or jumping forward, then triggering the healing or eating/drinking animation (kits, or edibles). Very useful when you are trying to escape a hostile area.

Apology & Compensation Rewards Edit

Since you've been gone, Turbine has issued a couple apologies or compensation rewards that you may be entitled to. These rewards are generally given once per character, and thus for older accounts with maxed out characters slots, they can come in quite handy. There are three things I would advise you consider doing with these rewards: 1) use them for yourself 2) trade them for MMDs or 3) work out a cross server trade with a trusted middle man (alliance monarchs and officers in well respected alliances).

  • If your character existed before May 2008 you may be entitled to a Writ of Apology by talking to a Royal Guard (one time per character). This reward is intended as compensation for problems with game stability prior to that time.
  • If your character(s) were more than 15 days old at the time of the Master of Arms patch a gift of six Imbue Swap Coins can be obtained (one time per character) from the NPC Emissary of Asheron (Weapon Imbues) at 33.6N, 56.9E in Arwic on the 2nd Floor.

The End Game Grind Edit

If you thought XP was all you had to grind, think again. There are a number of quests to complete/repeat, items to harvest, spell components to gather, and gear to acquire to get you back up and running in Asheron's Call. Many of these are annoyingly based on TIMERS so you will want to get started ASAP in order to get the most rewards (and develop the necessary addiction). Augmentation Gems Luminance Flagging [[]]

Description Unique to Dark Isle, all creatures spawn in pods of 4. One of the four will spawn a boss creature plus two more of its own kind on death. These boss creatures always drop a trophy worth at least 13 million xp (the ones from the inner island are worth 17). Additionally, killing the boss kills the additional monsters summoned by the boss if you do not kill them first. The death is by "fate," which means that you must wait to loot them until the timer is up. There are three NPCs that accept these trophies, each gives a different item reward.
