In a mist-shrouded valley between the Obsidian Plains and the Inner Sea of Dereth sat the ruins of an ancient graveyard. Shambling undead and corruption-tainted rats lurk in the cold recesses of the crypts. Wisps and ghosts glowing with malevolent energy hover in the open spaces between gravestones. A vaguely female silhouette, wrapped in rotting Dericostian finery, and a face like a skull with glowing pale eyes wanders the weathered epitaphs.
The shade seems to hiss in rage at the mention of Geraine’s name, frost-bolts and icy waves of terrible power hurl from her fingers. The ghostly noblewoman’s light flickers momentarily as she lifts her hands into the air. Summoning magic coalesces and translucent, skull-like faces of hooded specters appear around her. Tairla’s handmaidens.
Unlike the Undead and Skeletons, ghosts have no corporal form. Rather they can only affect the living through sheer spectral will that finds form in cold, cutting strikes.
Lesser Ghosts seem to be most vulnerable to fiery attacks, with slashing attacks somewhat less so. However, the more powerful shades, such as the Named Ghosts and the Dreads, are most vulnerable to the disruptive effects of Lightning. Know what manner of ghost you face, and have the appropriate weapon at hand!
